Band Fags, West Coast Premiere!

James Arthur M. & Blake Dorris: Band Fags!

James Arthur M. & Blake Dorris: Band Fags!

I'm so incredibly BICCITED to share this totally awesome show with the Bay Area: Band Fags! by Frank Anthony Polito at New Conservatory Theater Center,  directed by Stephanie Temple.

In this two person, two act show, I play Brad, a member of the school band.  Taking place in the 80s, myself and Jack, travel through adolescents, in this John Hughes like, coming of age story.  This is by far the largest role I've had to date, in the Bay Area Theater circuit, and have had a blast working on it.  It's been quite a challenge, and a lot of work, but I've enjoyed every minute of it, and feel so grateful to be apart of this production, and the opportunity to tell this story.   For the first time in my career, within the first four pages of the script, I knew I had to be involved in this production.  I could relate to the story, the characters, discovering one's sexuality as a teen, and the fear that comes along with it, on top of all the anxt, fun, and drama that come with being a high school teenager, I had to TELL THIS STORY.  Six weeks later, here we are, with first previews starting today!

The show runs:

It's BAFM B....!

On June 22nd, 2013, Bay Area Flash Mob was invited to headline San Francisco Drag Queen Diva Cookie Dough's, 'Monster Show', at the DNA Lounge.  We performed the Britney Spears medley, I co-choreographed, in front of a massive audience, that consistently went crazy, as we turned it out, to the classic songs, and choreograph of Ms. Spears.  I think we made her proud.  Quite a way to ring in my new year! An awesome birthday!

24 Hour Film Festival!

This past weekend I had the distinct pleasure of participating in the 24 Hour Film Festival, through my school, the Meisner Technique Studio, in San Francisco.

Myself, Sandy, Krystle, Billy, and Amber were given the task of completing a film within 24 hours.  Our film had to include: The opening line being, "Isn't that illegal?" Required Lines In the Film: 1) "Take the damn picture already." 2) "You seriously need to calm down." 3) "Stop laughing, that's not funny." 4) "Whoa, you have the worst breath ever." Required Props: 1) A bus 2) A live bird 3) An outrageous Halloween Costume 4) A cast member in a hotel hot tub or swimming pool 5) A Christmas tree. Required Characters: 1) High Five guy 2) Someone who breaks into a well-known song at least 5 times- based on what someone else just said. All shot, chopped, and delivered to the festival within 24 hours.

This weekend, I got off my butt, and made a movie.  Check out the madness we created:

This Summer: Sweet Bird of Youth

I'm currently in rehearsals for Tennessee Williams', "Sweet Bird of Youth", at The Tides Theater, directed by Jennifer Welch, I'll be playing the role of Fly.  I'm excited to work at this theater space, and with this company, it's where the SF Playhouse used to be, and I've always wanted to work in this space.

The show runs: Fridays/Saturdays, July 19th-August 24th (with a preview performance July 18th)
